Yungblud and WILLOW release new single “Memories” | News

rambling charmer yungblud is back with a new track! Following on from previous indie-rock-tinged single ‘The Funeral’, WILLOW’s feature ‘Memories’ is a softer blast of alt-rock exploring those memories you’d rather forget.

“Memories” is a classic Yungblud; a dynamic beat pushes you forward as Dom Harrison’s punchy voice soars freely. The infectious sound of the track almost mirrors the concerns of the track – with an incredibly catchy flow and a memorable chorus, this track is guaranteed to get “stuck in your brain”.

Speaking on the track, Harrison explains how this song aims to be a form of catharsis; “This song is about letting go of past traumas you may have experienced and expressing them to the world. There’s something liberating about turning painful memories of your past into lessons for your future – I want people to scream this song and make it cathartic. It’s about coming together and letting go of the pain, turning it into positive energy, and sharing the burden with each other.

The clip is the perfect reflection of this desire to let go of the past. Directed by Colin Tilley, the video is a collection laden with vignettes, bright reds and moody rain-drenched shots that take us through the motions of grieving a lost love, wryly reminding us of times past.

WILLOW’s feature on the track is also glorious. Truly the queen of collaboration, it seems like everything WILLOW touches turns to gold – from PinkPantheress to Camilla Cabello to Machine Gun Kelly, WILLOW’s eclectic collaborative story is powerful. Her rich, distinctive voice contrasts sharply with the track’s light sound and easy flow, yet fits perfectly. The girl is a chameleon, able to easily blend into any soundscape.
