Two people died and a child was seriously injured after a family was hit by a car.

Five pedestrians, who are all linked, were outside a multi-storey car park in Ramsgate, Kentwhen they were hit by a black Alfa Romeo, police said.

An 80-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman died shortly after Wednesday night’s incident, while a primary school-aged girl was taken to a London hospital for treatment neat.

A man in his 40s and a young boy were also slightly injured.

A 30-year-old Ramsgate man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by reckless driving and leaving the scene of a collision.

He is receiving hospital treatment for minor injuries.

Investigations into the incident are still being conducted by officers.
