“I’m starting to think I’m in the presence of a scammer.” MGM has dropped another new 70-second trailer for the new george miller movie titled Three thousand years of nostalgia, which will hit theaters exclusively in late August. Rather, it’s a promotional spot announcing that “tickets are on sale” for this epic romance. The film premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival a few months ago. A solitary scholar, on a trip to Istanbul, discovers a Djinn who offers him three wishes in exchange for his freedom. What she wants is love, but can and should he give it to her? Throughout their journey together, they explore time, passion and the incredible powers of love. Tilda Swinton shares the spotlight with Idris Elbewith a massive ensemble cast including Aamito Lagum, Burcu Shadedar, Matteo Bocelli, Kaan Guldurand Alyla Browne. I really don’t think MGM has a clue how to market this – they’re seriously overselling it, which will cause problems once people watch it. I loved the movie (most reviewers didn’t) but it’s not as grand or as epic as they claim. At least it’s nice to see George himself appear in this new trailer.

Dr. Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic – content with life and a creature of reason. While attending a conference in Istanbul, she meets a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for her freedom. This poses two problems. First, she doubts he’s real and second, because she’s a specialist in history and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling him fantastic stories from his past. Eventually, she is seduced and makes a wish that surprises them both. Three thousand years of nostalgia is both written and directed by acclaimed Australian filmmaker george millermovie director madmax, The road warrior, Max Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome, The Eastwick Witches, Lorenzo’s Oil, Babe: Pig in the City, Happy Feet 1 & 2and Max Max: Fury Road. Based on the short story “The Djinn in the Eye of the Nightingale” by AS Byatt. MGM makes its debut Three thousand years of nostalgia in cinemas nationwide August 26, 2022.
