The misinformation board was the final straw – DHS needs to go

It’s time to dismantle the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) because it offers no real security and has become a threat to America’s freedom.

Former President George W. Bush may have created the government department with the best of intentions in the wake of 9/11 and the declaration of the War on Terror, but the agency has become a cumbersome mechanism for government control. and state and now ominously threatens your freedom even to speak idly to close an open southern border that has facilitated an invasion of the United States by illegal immigrants, terrorists and cartel criminals. This needs to stop, and the creation of the Disinformation Governance Council only makes things more worrying and more urgent.

The problem, of course, begins with current DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, surely one of the most incompetent people to ever hold government office. This man would clearly have been in over his head as a junior official in any municipality, but somehow he created an unprecedented and ongoing border and immigration crisis. now to extend its expertise to censorship with the creation of the Disinformation Governance Council.

The reaction of conservatives and libertarians to this Orwellian concoction was immediate and caustic, as many wondered how the United States Congress could even fund an organization that will decide what is disinformation and what is not. is not.

In a Sunday interview on Fox News, Mayorkas had the nerve to suggest that the Biden administration had failed to adequately communicate the benefits of the council, despite being the public face of the Biden administration and he was the one who announced the creation of the council last week as he appeared before the House Appropriations subcommittee to discuss the fiscal year 2023 budget for his bloated and redundant department.

The still-dazed Mayorkas received another round of talking points over the weekend, ostensibly in an effort to appease paranoid conservatives who thought it was too much of a coincidence that the disinformation council was announced a few just days after Twitter accepted Elon Musk’s offer. buy the social media giant and potentially free it from the shackles of censorship

Mayorkas explained on Sunday that the council would only assess “disinformation that poses a threat to homeland security.”

“Disinformation from Russia, China, Iran, cartels,” he said.

“This is a task force that adopts best practices to ensure that, in countering disinformation that poses a threat to the homeland, our work does not violate freedom of speech, does not infringe on civil rights, civil liberties,” he continued. “It’s not about discourse, it’s about connectedness to violence. This is what we have to tackle. You know, an individual has the right to speak freely to vomit anti-Semitic rhetoric. What they’re not allowed to do is take hostages in a synagogue, and that’s where we come in.

Do you believe a word of it?

Why should you? This is the same man who has been claiming for over a year that there is no border crisis and who just told Congress that the southern border is secure. He said it with a straight face, so tortured.

He also believes white supremacy is the most dangerous threat facing the American hoax and has said so many times. Mayorkas also suggested that he inherited all the problems at the border from President Donald Trump’s former administration. Now it’s rich. We all know President Joe Biden came into office opening the southern border and inviting the world to come.

What’s amazing is that while Biden allowed Mayorkas to do nothing on the border, the president continues to ship billions in weapons to Ukraine and persists in escalating the potential for war with Russia. . He does it with the ease of a man ordering a ham sandwich from a deli. Yet he cannot even complete the construction of the wall on the southern border.

So, is Mayorkas lying, grossly incompetent, completely delusional, or just following a sinister plan to destroy America? How someone can sit there and hear the evidence of their failure – fentanyl killing Americans, migrants being shipped across the US, terrorists passing through – and remain in complete denial is not only unbelievable. , this is deeply disturbing. It is as if he saw the expected results of his work.

And who did the Biden administration put in charge of this disinformation board? She’s a self-proclaimed misinformation expert who’s never had a real job, has written a few well-worn books you might struggle to read on an afternoon at the beach, and is a hard-nosed Democratic accomplice.

Nina Jankowicz dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop story as disinformation and she might as well have said Russia disinformation and that would have been in line with Mayorkas guidelines for defining verboten stories.

“I don’t question his objectivity,” Mayorkas said on Sunday. “There are people in the department who have a wide range of views, and they are incredibly dedicated to the mission. We are not the opinion police. She has testified several times before Congress, she is recognized as a formidable authority and we are very lucky to have her.

Of course, he does not question his objectivity. It would be too obvious. Nor is he the opinion police, even though that is exactly what the DHS has become.

A conservative pundit pointed out that Democrats should remember that a disinformation committee would also exist under a Republican administration and could be used by the GOP to track liberal “disinformation.” But of course that would go against what conservatives want for America. We are not comfortable with government agencies deciding what Americans should read and what they should be able to say. They are not even happy to guess who will turn out to be the terrorist based on what they might post on the internet.

But it’s almost as if the Democrats aren’t expecting to leave office, that they aren’t worried about their disinformation commission passing to the next administration.

Republicans should have been worried about what was happening to DHS. Bush should not have created another government department to increase government surveillance and population control. The United States is full of police and security organizations and most of them are out of control. The FBI is actively targeting conservatives, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is about to seize your assault rifles and cigars. America doesn’t need 13 separate intelligence-gathering agencies all competing assiduously. All this intelligence capability could not even succeed in Afghanistan and predict the rapid collapse of Kabul in the hands of the Taliban.

The GOP needs to return to a philosophy that ‘government is best who governs least’ and if the party seizes the House midterm before Democrats can declare them null and void, it had better to start representing his constituents and grassroots and not aping the liberal politics of the Democratic Party.
