The Flight Attendant: Will there be a season 3?

“The Flight Attendant” became one of the hottest shows on HBO Max, not to mention an award-winning hit that earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for several members of the team behind the show. , including lead actress Kaley Cuoco. After two successful seasons, however, will the comedy-thriller take off for a third time, or is it firmly entrenched?

While there’s no official word from HBO Max yet, the behind-the-scenes answer to this question has changed over the past few months. In May, Cuoco suggested that she was at least done with “The Flight Attendant,” whether or not a third season happened.

“I’m like, ‘Well, we did two. We should probably be done. And I think I was outnumbered by that thought,” she told People at the time. “There is definitely interest in doing a third season. I think for me, in that moment, the plane has landed…I mean, we’ve done so much this season. Even in the eight episodes, we made so much history that I think, ‘Well, what could we do next?’ So it will take a lot of thinking to make sure that if we go back it’s better than the last two, which is very difficult to do.”

However, she left the door open. “I think the writers and crew did a really nice job tying it with a nice bow [at the end of season two]”, did she say. “But if you were to open the bow, that would be OK.”

Fast forward a few months, and the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery left the fates of many HBO Max shows, including “The Flight Attendant,” in limbo. Add to that a reported presentation to investors of the new Warner Bros. Discovery (via Business Insider), which seemed to suggest that HBO Max is seen within the company as “male biased,” sparking new concerns about the future of women in the networks. -programming centered as “The Flight Attendant” as part of the new vision reported by the company.

Now, however, Cuoco has a different perspective, and she may have just revealed that a third season is in the works after all!

“I was at a dinner party a few weeks ago, sitting next to [executive producer] Greg Berlanti, and there were a lot of people there, so it was really hard to talk, but I whispered to him, and I was like, ‘Season three?’ And he just nodded at me. I was like, ‘Wow.’ He didn’t even say anything. He nodded: Yeah!” she revealed in an interview with Variety.

Cuoco also has other projects she is working on, so the third season might take a bit longer to release. For her, this is actually an ideal situation.

“I think season two was so heavy for me, it was a big part of it. And now have some separation. And again, we had to depend on what it would look like,” she told Variety. “I love when shows take a breather. This isn’t the era of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ – it’s different. So I want to be wanted, I don’t want to impose that on people. I want the script to be perfect enough. And I know the producers and everyone else feels the same way. I’ve spoken to many of the main cast, and they’re up for it as well. So that’s a good sign. I could see it happening. But probably not anytime soon.”

Long story short: The future of “The Flight Attendant” is still up in the air, but Cuoco seems up for another flight!
