The Flash Star Candice Patton Details Her Experience With Toxic Fans

the flash Star Candice Patton has opened up about her experience dealing with abuse and harassment from fans.

The CWs the flash decided to go in a different direction when they cast Candice Patton as Iris West, who is traditionally white in the comics. Unfortunately, people’s reaction quickly followed due to the change. Patton, who recently embarked on the show’s ninth season, revealed on The Open Up Podcast that she nearly left the show after season two because of the backlash.

No CW or Warner Bros. endorsement.

We saw it recently in the star wars community with Obi Wan Kenobi star Moses Ingram as well. Ewan McGregor notably uploaded a video alongside Ingram and called fans toxic, but Candice Patton says she hasn’t received the same support:

“Even with the companies I worked with, The CW and WB, it was their way of handling things. We know better now that it is not acceptable to treat your talent this way and leave it to this abuse and harassment. But for me in 2014, there were no support systems. Nobody cared about it. It was just a free beach to be abused every day. There were no social media protocols in place to protect me, so they just left it there.

Candice Patton also noticed that she was treated differently than others on the flash:

“It was more about the protocols in place and the things that I see happening to my white counterparts that don’t happen to me. Seeing how I’ve been treated differently from others, seeing how I’m not protected by the network and the studio, those are things that didn’t necessarily hurt me but frustrated me.”

Here is the synopsis of the flash season eight finale, “Negative, Part Two”:

“With The Flash still reeling from everything that just happened, the rest of the team is stepping up to support him when he needs it most. »

The CW series stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton, Brandon McKnight and Jesse L. Martin.
