The Bad Guys maintains its top spot during a quiet weekend at the box office

As predicted, The villains maintained the top spot this weekend but it was a quiet time at the box office as we await the arrival of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The villains grossed $16.1 million over the weekend, which is a not-so-serious 33% drop from the previous frame. Heading into Sunday, it looked like a $14 million weekend, but Sunday’s estimates would be better than expected for a healthier finish. Nowadays, The villains grossed $44.4 million as it became a dormant family hit at the box office.

Maintaining second place is sonic the hedgehog 2 which grossed $11.3 million. That’s a 28% drop, and it proves that different styles of family movies can thrive at the box office, even with head-to-head competition. Before the weekend, sonic the hedgehog 2 became the highest-grossing video game adaptation at the domestic box office and there’s still gas in the tank. the Sonic sequel has grossed $160.9 million to date at the domestic box office.

Thirdly, we find Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets which had better holding on weekend three with a 41% drop to $8.3 million gross. Although the outfit was better this weekend, Dumbledore’s secrets continues to be a disappointment at the domestic box office. The movie has grossed $79.5 million to date and that’s a far cry from its reported budget of $200 million.

The man from the north retains fourth place grossing $6.3 million, down 49% from the prior weekend. The good news is that the drop was just over 50% this weekend, but the problem is that last weekend’s open was so soft it’s hard to rebound. Nowadays, The man from the north grossed $22.8 million at the domestic box office.

Rounding out the top five, as I predicted, is Everything everywhere all at once, which made $5.5 million over the weekend. That’s actually a 2% increase from the previous weekend as the A24 platform release continues to prove itself. Word of mouth has been done gradually and continues to prosper. I suspect the movie will continue to appeal to moviegoers and become a real hit for the studio. To date, the multiverse sensation has grossed $35.4 million at the domestic box office.
