Steve Martin says he won’t be looking for any more film or TV roles after the conclusion of US comedy show Only Murders In The Building.
The 76-year-old actor and comedian said that although he has no interest in retiring, he would like to “work a little less”.
Martin’s long career, spanning both television and film, saw him win five Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy and an Honorary Academy Award in 2013.
His well-known roles include Cheaper By The Dozen, The Father Of The Bride and Planes, Trains And Automobiles.
He currently stars in Only Murders In The Building, a comedy about three true crime obsessives in a co-housing arrangement, alongside Selena Gomez and Martin Short.
Martin and Short also perform on their live show, You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today!
Speaking to The -, Martin said, “We were very happy to do the show live.
“There may be a natural ending to this – someone gets sick, someone runs out – but I wouldn’t do it without Marty.
“When this TV show is over, I’m not going to look for any more. I’m not going to look for other films.
“I don’t want to do cameos. It is, oddly, that.
But he added that despite his lack of desire for big screen roles, he has no plans to retire.
“My wife keeps saying, ‘You always say you’re going to retire and then you always come up with something,'” he told THR.
“I’m really not interested in retiring. I’m not. But I would work just a little less. Maybe.”
