Prince Harry is advised to prepare evidence if he makes salacious claims about his royal family in his memoir, which is due to be published later this year.
It is understood the book will chronicle the Duke of Sussex’s life experiences and lessons learned growing up not as ‘the prince he was born’ but as ‘the man he became’. It is expected that he will speak naturally of the British royal family. There is also speculation that he could put them in a bad light, especially Prince Charles and his mother-in-law, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall.
Speaking about the memoir with ‘Royally Us’, PR expert Lida Citroen said the excitement over its content was understandable. She compared it to “celebrity space” where people are intrigued and curious.
She said: “I think what’s interesting is that we’re all strangers who just stare, and let’s face it, it’s fun to read, it’s salacious, it’s juicy, it’s is gossip. Would we want someone to write about us that way? Of course not, we would be mortified so I can imagine they are [The Royal Family] mortified by some of that. »
Citroën added: “The royal family, again, has a personality, an institution to manage and there is such a wonderful quality to that. »
Speaking about the book’s potential content, she warned the Duke of Sussex against becoming disillusioned with the public’s perception of the British Royal Family. Citroën explained: “It’s really tricky if you start pointing out where the ropes are and you know what the magic is, what the magician is doing behind the scenes. »
She continued, “If you’re going to disillusion all of this, be very careful where you step because these are some of the landmines we see in the celebrity space too, okay you start pointing and to point fingers, make sure you can back it up. »
Citroën’s warnings come after royal expert Kinsey Schofield said Prince Harry may not even criticize his family in his memoir. She thinks it won’t be the “scathing revelation” the public is speculating and hopes it will be “more of a motivational book than a hit”.
