Police arrest Courtney Clenney in the stabbing death of her boyfriend

Authorities have charged and arrested Courtney Clenney in the death of her boyfriend Christian “Toby” Obumseli, the Miami Herald reports.

According to reports, Clenney was in a rehab center in Hawaii, receiving treatment for post-traumatic disorder and substance abuse at the time of his arrest.

Officers charged the 26-year-old with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

Following the arrest, his attorney Frank Prieto confirmed the arrest to the Miami Herald and stated in part:

“We look forward to clearing his name in court.

Tweets resurfaced from Obumseli

Around the time of Obumseli’s death, old tweets of him talking about his dating choices resurfaced. He said black women were not his preference.

His cousin Jessica Nwabuko told The Shade Room in an exclusive interview:

He was 17 years old. He was a high school student. I’m pretty sure everyone who was young said crazy things and thought nothing of it. I just think her dating preference [is] white women.

Clenney and Obumseli’s altercation

Neighbors called police at the Edgewater neighborhood apartment after witnesses heard a domestic argument between the couple on April 3, 2022. According to @TMZ, Clenney told officers she stabbed Obumseli with a knife . His lawyer says it was an act of self-defense.
