Pet Benatar, Neil Giraldo’s ‘Invincible’ Musical Will Premiere in Los Angeles

New Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Pat Benatar and musical partner and husband Neil Giraldo announce a November world premiere for “Invincible – The Musical,” a long-running stage production that will incorporate a mix of old and again Songs. The show will launch November 22 in Beverly Hills at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.

“We are thrilled that tickets are now on sale for the fully realized production of ‘Invincible – The Musical,'” the couple said. Variety. “We’ve loved spending the last five years writing and collaborating with an incredible team and we’re thrilled to finally be able to bring it to life. The Bram Goldsmith Theater in Wallis is the perfect place to create it. It’s been a joyous journey, and we look forward to having you with us.

Casting will be announced later in the year for the show, which has a book written by “The Fosters” and “Good Trouble” TV series creator Bradley Bredeweg. The first production in Beverly Hills will be directed by Tiffany Nichole Greene (resident director of “Hamilton”), and will feature musical direction and arrangements by Jesse Vargas (“Love Actually Live”) and orchestrations and arrangements by Giraldo. The show is presented by Jamie Cesa, Cody Lassen and Bel Chiasso Entertainment.

Production will follow shortly on the heels of Benatar’s induction into the Hall of Fame on November 5, an event also being held in Los Angeles this year.

Tickets on sale today are priced from $39 to $125, with previews set at $29 to $105. They are available individually as well as as part of the 2022-2023 Valais subscription season here.

The story of ‘Invincible’ – titled after one of Benatar’s hits – is described as a reimagining of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ set “in the modern, war-torn metropolis of Verona, where the chancellor newly elected Paris vows to destroy progressive resistance and return the city to its traditional roots. The story of star-crossed lovers, exploring how love and equality struggle for survival in a time of great transformation, envisions peace in a divided world.

Shows at the Wallis will take place from November 22 to December 17, Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Saturday at 2 p.m. and shows on Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The preview period runs from November 22 to 29.

In November last year, a showcase version of the musical ran for three nights at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood.

The title track to “Invincible” was one of Benatar’s top 10 hits of 1985 and led his sixth album, “Seven the Hard Way.” It has some history in other media: moviegoers with long memories may remember it as the theme song to a movie flop, “The Legend of Billie Jean”; decades later, he appeared in the ’80s 2017 season finale of “Glow.”

Benatar and Giraldo are currently on a tour of the United States which culminates in an appearance at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater on November 5.
