Organized Crime Squad Member Shot On Set Gets GoFundMe Page – Deadline

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the six children of Johnny Pizarro II, who was shot early Tuesday while working as a parking lot production assistant on Law & Order: Organized Crimeand in New York. Approximately $5,000 has been raised so far, with a goal of reaching $250,000.

Pizarro’s union, meanwhile, expresses its condolences and promises to continue fighting for the safety of its members. In a statement to Deadline, Keith Purce, president of Communications Workers of America Local 1101, said, “CWA sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Johnny Pizarro. The safety of our members is our top priority, and PPAs perform inherently dangerous work that involves long hours at night, sometimes by themselves, on the streets of New York to secure parking. The union raised these safety issues during negotiations with production companies. We will continue to seek provisions in our agreements that will provide the safest working environment possible for our members. »

The GoFundMe page was created on Thursday by Chrissy Grigoropoulos, the attorney for her estate and family. Pizarro was shot and killed while sitting in a car on the set of the Universal Television-produced series, according to police reports. No suspects have been arrested.

The fundraising page reads as follows:

“Johnny Alberto Pizarro II was taken too soon from his family and his children. A stranger took him away from his children in the most senseless way possible, while he was working and trying to support his family as a parking attendant. The investigation is ongoing. Any information regarding funeral and memorial services will be provided at a later date.

“Johnny left behind six beautiful children, whose names are withheld to respect their privacy as they are minors, and an incredible family,” the page adds. “Words cannot describe the emptiness his dearest family and friends feel. He was the shining light and the heart of so many lives and his memory will be eternal.

“This GoFundMe was created by The Grigoropoulos Law Group, which represents Johnny’s estate and family, for the sole purpose of helping to provide financial support to his six beautiful children for their tremendous loss.

“All proceeds will be donated to Johnny’s children as well as his funeral and memorial expenses. Thank you for your continued support. We ask at this sensitive time that the media and public respect the privacy of the family and direct all questions and concerns to Chrissy Grigoropoulos, Esq. of the Grigoropoulos legal group. »
