An OnlyFans model who fatally stabbed her boyfriend in Miami was arrested in Hawaii on Wednesday and is expected to be charged with second-degree murder, authorities said.
In a statement, the Hawaii Police Department said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 26-year-old Courtney Clenney, alleging second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
Clenney was taken into custody in the April 3 murder of Christian “Toby” Obumseli while in rehabilitation for drug addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder, her attorney Frank Prieto said, confirming comments reported for the first time by the Miami Herald.
She was being held at the East Hawai’i Detention Center and was scheduled to appear in local district court for the first time on Thursday, the department said. She will eventually be extradited to Florida.
The 11th Judicial Circuit State’s Attorney’s Office said it would announce charges Thursday in connection with Obumseli’s murder.
The Miami Police Department previously described Obumseli’s death as a domestic violence incident that involved a physical altercation and ended in a stabbing.
In a statement, Prieto, who previously described the couple’s relationship as “clearly toxic”, said he was “completely shocked” by Clenney’s arrest due to the “clear evidence of self-defense in this case”.
“Obumseli attacked and strangled her that night,” he said. “Courtney had no choice but to meet the force with the force.”
A lawyer for Obumseli’s family did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A cousin of Obumseli previously said the family had “no reason to believe this was a case of self-defence”, adding: “Toby was raised by a very strong family, with morals. strong, strong values. It does not come from this.”
Clenney appeared on OnlyFans as Courtney Tailor and has 2 million Instagram followers.
