The Dawgs exploded offensively for 14 points in each of their two wins as they swept the Brooks Bombers in their best of three Western Division semifinals.

On Tuesday night, Okotoks cruised into the division final with a 14-2 victory over the host Bombers – a night after a 14-6 triumph at Seaman Stadium.

In the latest rout, the Dawgs were again trailing offensively by Ricky Sanchez, who went 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored, a day after hitting for the cycle.

McCoy Pearce went 3-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored for Okotoks. Alejandro Cazorla, Micah McDowell, Connor Crowson, Jacob Morrow and Tucker Zdunich each contributed an RBI in the Game 2 win.

Dawgs starter Bobby Vath allowed two earned runs while striking out eight over 6.2 innings for the victory. Relief efforts from Cade Herrmann, Rylan Penner and Quinn Tocheniuk helped stop the Bombers’ bats and secure the sweep.

The Dawgs next face the Sylvan Lake Gulls in a best-of-three West final featuring the WCBL’s top two regular-season teams. Okotoks led the WCBL with a 43-13 record, but Sylvan Lake wasn’t far behind with a 38-18 record. The Gulls swept the Fort McMurray Giants in their divisional semifinal.

Game 1 of the Western Finals is scheduled for Friday at Okotoks, with Game 2 at Sylvan Lake on Saturday and Game 3, if necessary, back at Seaman Stadium on Sunday. All games start at 7:05 p.m.

The Eastern Final will pit the Moose Jaw Miller Express against the upstart Medicine Hat Mavericks. After finishing fourth in their division with an 18-38 regular season record, the Mavericks swept the Regina Red Sox, who won first place. Meanwhile, second-placed Moose Jaw dispatched the Swift Current 57 in two games in their divisional semifinal.
