Justin Lin, who directed the last five Fast and Furious films, announced earlier this week that he would step down as director of the upcoming x fast. While he has confirmed he will remain attached to the project as producer, that leaves a vacancy to fill and Universal will be eager to find a replacement soon, as the film has already entered production.
Deadline reports that inside sources have named Louis Leterrier the favorite to take the reins x fast. The film has currently been in production for a week and the studio is confident the break in production will be brief, which may suggest they are already anticipating an easy transfer to Leterrier, with whom Universal studio chief Donna Langley is reportedly had a great working relationship over the years.
Louis Leterrier has an impressive resume, which certainly suggests that he would be well equipped to take on a project of the magnitude of x fast. His previous directorial credits include Marvel’s The Incredible Hulkthe 2010 remake of Clash of the Titansand the ten episodes of Netflix The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
x fast will see Vin Diesel return to the franchise, with much F9The main cast is also expected to return. Brie Larson and Jason Momoa have also been cast as new additions to the Fast and Furious franchise.
