The original complaint was filed with Lakeshore OPP on June 2. The adult male victim informed officers that someone had taken over his cell phone account and withdrawn money from his bank account.

A thorough investigation determined that changes were made to the Lakeshore resident’s cell phone plan on May 31 through a Rogers store in Barrie, Ont.

An unknown man had come to the store and presented a fake Ontario driver’s license to impersonate the victim.

Also on May 31, the suspect went to a bank in the city of Owen Sound and was able to fraudulently withdraw $4,500 from the victim’s account.

The victim also learned that an attempt had been made to fraudulently create a credit card in his name. Fortunately, the attempt failed and the request was rejected.
