July 27, 2022 Celebrity Social Media Roundup

Lainey’s first post this morning was about the Beckhams social media freeze with the Peltz-Beckhams. It’s very obvious. And at this point I’m guessing it’s post-wedding drama because the Beckhams are hosts (they often throw parties around the country) and before the engagement they spent a lot of time with Nicola and Brooklyn. Then his family took over the hosting duties and anyone who has navigated that dynamic knows it’s a recipe for drama.

Lainey’s take on how mothers-in-law can be overprotective of their sons is also correct. I also think there is one more element to this: Nicola not only stopped liking Victoria’s posts, but the whole family (Cruz, Romeo and David). The nature of family conflict is that everyone is drawn into it. What if I’m the Beckhams and my son and his new wife, with minimal professional accomplishments on top of being born rich, got tons of coverage in American and British Vogue based on last name, well, it’s another angle. , right? Because it’s a family business built on a family bond. And if you don’t want to actively maintain that bond, are you still benefiting from the company? (Or does this line of thinking put me in monster territory?)

Retta was on Live with Kelly and Ryan and spoke about the cancellation of Good Girls, saying “One person ruined it for all the cast and crew, and so it’s not back.” The three leads – Retta, Mae Whitman and Christina Hendricks – seem extremely close and supportive, so this isn’t one of them. Many fans point to Manny Montana as the holdout. It’s tacky because the show was on the bubble and all three women allegedly took a pay cut and rumor has it Montana wouldn’t agree to do that and it was too late to write a new season without him. So, is it ingratitude and imposture from your colleagues or is it just his prerogative to leave a job where he feels he is not being fairly compensated for his work? Or maybe after five seasons he just ended and wanted to move on to a new job – which he has. And why isn’t any of this falling on the network, which clearly didn’t enjoy the show enough to be compensated?

Readers might notice that I keep complaining about Instagram’s format change and Instagram finally listening, probably because celebrities like the KarJenners were posting how bad it sucks. Instagram manager Adam Mosseri posted an explainer video on Twitter, probably because if he posted it on Instagram no one would ever see it because we’re bombarded with Reels no one asked for or wants. I don’t follow any fitness or bible verse influencer accounts, how are they still in my feed?!!!! I want to see pictures of people I follow, which Chrissy Teigen points out to Adam in the replies. Celebrities can’t and shouldn’t be expected to right society’s ills, but they can. It’s the least they can do for us.

Yesterday I mentioned I have never and the season three trailer came out today and the tagline is “same nerds, new drama” which is just perfect.
