Jennifer Coolidge on the “Bend and Snap” of a legal blonde

Jennifer Coolidge’s “bend and break” scene in “Legally Blonde” is pretty iconic, but the actress herself doesn’t feel like the move makes sense in real life.

“The ‘turn and slam’ is a moment in cinema that I would totally disagree with,” Coolidge said in a recent interview with Deadline. “I never had to lean into the work like in this movie. I think the bend and snap is misleading.”

She then explained how to make the move work in the real world. “I have to say, when I did the fold and snap, I was wearing my underwear, and I feel like in real life you have to leave them on,” she said.

Coolidge is currently in the midst of a string of hits. Not only is she reprising her role as adorable nail technician Paulette in “Legally Blonde 3,” but she’s also reprising her role as Tanya McQuoid in season two of “The White Lotus.” And while “bend and snap” might not have worked for her in real life, starring in “American Pie” apparently did.

In an Aug. 3 interview with Variety, Coolidge said her role as Jeanine Stifler, also known as Stifler’s mother, in the 1999 comedy got her fucked by some “200 people.”

“I had a lot of fun being a MILF, and I had a lot of sex action with ‘American Pie,'” she told Variety. “There were so many advantages to making this film. I mean, there would be like 200 people I would never have slept with.”
