James Marriott’s new single ‘Grapes’ is a playful version of coming of age | New

James Marriott shared the new single “Grapes”.

The songwriter had long had secret ambitions, but only started putting them into place in 2020. Debut single “Slow Down” marked the start of his journey, and since then he hasn’t stopped accelerating.

Gaining a huge fanbase, Brighton’s James Marriott eagerly pushes ahead, fusing the spiky indie of, say, The Strokes with the dynamic lyricism of Sam Fender.

The new EP “Bitter Tongues” is coming, and he just shared the track “Grapes”. An ironic vision of emerging adulthood, it’s about young love, regrets, and overcoming your mistakes.

Coupled with a killer chorus, ‘Grapes’ takes James Marriott to a new level. He comments…

“’Grapes’ is the culmination of my desire to write about the dichotomy between love and timing. A fragile man and a strong woman are childhood sweethearts, but neither of them has yet lived their lives and become adults.
