Pâtisserie Gaudet in Acton Vale went up in smoke on Saturday morning, just days after declaring bankruptcy.

Firefighters went to the scene to try to extinguish the blaze which took place early in the morning at 1048 rue Macdonald in Acton Vale in Montérégie.
Established for almost 70 years in Acton Vale, Pâtisserie Gaudet declared a $23.8 million bankruptcy this week, resulting in the forced layoff of 113 workers.
“The balance owed by the company to the Government of Quebec and to Investissement Quebec is $7.7 million,” said Dominik Boudreault Lapierre, spokesman for Investissement Quebec (IQ), on Tuesday August 9.
Saturday morning, the building was still in flames as evidenced by numerous videos posted on social networks.
