The next national treasure The series for Disney+ may be missing Nicolas Cage (for now), but a few old friends from the movie franchise will appear. During the National Treasure: Edge of History panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Harvey Keitel would reprise his role as FBI Special Agent Peter Sadusky as a guest star. A trailer for National Treasure: Edge of History was also released. The teaser is pretty brief, but Disney+ has also released a behind-the-scenes featurette, which you can check out below.
National Treasure: Edge of History centers on a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Olivera), a brilliant and resourceful dreamer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and rescue a lost Pan Am treasure. Besides Harvey Keitel, Justin Bartha will also reprise his character as Riley Poole in a guest role. Poole appeared in both national treasure films as a computer expert and friend of Nicolas Cage’s Benjamin Gates. Following the release of National Treasure: Book of Secrets in 2007, a third film was in development but failed to take off. Nicolas Cage was asked earlier this year if another national treasure movie was possible, but he replied, “No, the priority was to make it a TV series so I would say probably not.“
The series also stars Zuri Reed (Flatbush torts) as Tasha, Jess’s friend who joins the scavenger hunt but is forced to reassess her belief system to help her best friend; Antonio Cipriano (Little shredded pill) as Oren, a lovable but self-obsessed goofball with an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories who attempts to win back Tasha’s affections; Jordan Rodriguez (lady bird) as Ethan, Jess’ childhood best friend who has loved him since the day they met; Jake Austin Walker (Rectify) as Liam, a faint-worthy struggling musician with a permanent chip on his shoulder, who comes from a long line of treasure hunters; Catherine Zeta Jones (Chicago) as Billie, a badass billionaire, black market antiques expert and treasure hunter who lives by her own code; and Lyndon Smith (Kinship) as FBI Agent Ross, a dogged investigator who begins to realize there’s a bigger conspiracy at hand.
National Treasure: Edge of History doesn’t have an official release date yet, but the teaser says it will be “Coming soon” at Disney+.
