Drake lands first Emmy nomination as he joins ‘Euphoria’ contenders

TORONTO — Drake is making personal history as a first-time nominee for this year’s Emmy Awards.

The Toronto hitmaker has joined the list of contenders for the Emmy Awards in Outstanding Drama Series for his role as executive producer on HBO’s “Euphoria.”

His name was added this week in a flurry of updates from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences that named all of the producers nominated in the Emmys series and specials categories.

Drake, who was born Aubrey Graham, has held a producing credit on the TV series since its launch in 2019.

“Euphoria” follows the stories of a circle of rebellious high school students in Los Angeles.

Other newly added producer nominees include Selena Gomez as executive producer on “Only Murders in the Building” and Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr for “The Beatles: Get Back” in other categories.

The Emmys air Sept. 12 on CTV.
