Chris Pratt highlights Will Poulter’s portrayal of Adam Warlock

Chris Pratt highlighted his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Will Poulter’s performance as Adam Warlock.

The long awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 showed its first exclusive footage to the Hall H crowd at Comic-Con in San Diego last Saturday. Not only did attendees get a glimpse of what Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the gang are up to Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder, but they also got their first look at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock.

Since Adam Warlock was teased in one of the mid-credits scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans speculated who would end up playing the role. Will Poulter wasn’t a popular choice among fan lists, but James Gunn admitted in Hall H last Saturday that he thought he was the only actor who could bring the role to life. And if you asked Chris Pratt, he also thinks Poulter has what it takes.

In an interview with Fandango at San Diego Comic-Con, Chris Pratt sang the praises of his “little brother” Will Poulter, comparing his experiences as Star-Lord to Poulter’s casting as Adam Warlock:

“This guy has such charisma. I’m so proud of him. He did an excellent job. He’s an awesome Adam Warlock. He looks amazing. He, as an actor, Will, completely so dedicated, worked hard. He kinda reminded me of when I was cast as Star-Lord. This kind of transformation that was expected, the discipline that surrounded it, the eagerness to do it and its willingness to go for it… And look at it. He just did such a good job…

I feel like a big brother or something like that. I’m so proud of my little brother, watching him… I just watch him on set and I’m like, ‘Man, I know what you’re going through and you’re killing it.’ And then the part of me in the back of my mind is like, ‘This is going to be so awesome for the movie.’ So he’s so good. He is so good. He’s so funny, so natural, and he’s a physical specimen. So it is, yes, we are so good. People will love his character.

James Gunn has previously acknowledged that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the conclusion he had envisioned for this team since he started with the first film. It’s unclear what the future holds for these characters after this film’s release, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel Studios wanted to keep Chris Pratt as Star-Lord for future projects as well as Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, especially given that this will be the character’s first outing in the MCU.

Chris Pratt was last seen in Thor: Love and Thunder. Here is the synopsis:
