Halifax’s Century Egg shared a stop-motion/animation video for last year’s title track small piece of hair PE.
Directed by Knuckles Animation Studio’s Susie Shapones, the music video originally premiered at the St Kilda Festival in Australia, before winning ‘Best Animation Music Video’ at the International Sound Video Awards in Prague and being screened at the Animation Cinema Summits in Montreal.
Hosted by Shapone and featuring Amigurumi (traditional Japanese crochet) by Shane Song of Century Egg, the video finds a crochet puppet – based on the small piece of hair album cover by Song – contemplating the life of the hair she loses in her bathroom.
“‘Little Piece of Hair’ is a multimedia animated music video, incorporating stop-motion and 2D animation,” Shapone said in a statement about the video. “It’s also a passionate project that represents the beautiful relationship that exists between the artists. After their first successful collaboration in 2017, Century Egg and Knuckles Animation Studio continue to work together, even years and hemispheres apart. »
