The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power lands on Amazon Prime Video in September. Set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Ringsthe expected show is based on the story of Middle-earth by author JRR Tolkien.
The series is set to delve into the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the island kingdom of Númenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men. 23 Super Exciting Character Posters Were Recently Released To Tease The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. We thought of breaking down the five most compelling.
1. Let’s know
This poster in all likelihood teases the ultimate enforcer of evil in JRR Tolkien’s LOTR trilogy. Details such as the dark gauntlet remind us of what Sauron dons in The Fellowship of the Ring. The dark obsidian vibe and detailing only intrigues us more about what The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will dive in when it comes out. It’s going to be super interesting to see how the series explores the origins and history of the future Dark Lord of Mordor.
Our best guess is that the character this poster teases is the elf lord Glorfindel. Although he has no dialogue in the LOTR films, the character has appeared in the films. We distinguish the insignia of his house, the House of Golden Flowers, which is a sun. That’s pretty strong evidence that her character appears in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Another sign that it could be Glorfindel is that he was present on Middle-earth when the One Ring was forged.
We venture that person donning the blue robe and the brown robe with a sickle in hand is the Ainur and the Valar, Yavanna, an immortal celestial being. She is one of the Aratar who is also considered Kementári aka the Earth Queen. It was Yavanna who ultimately sent the wizard Radagast the Brown to Middle-earth. She is comparable to the Greek goddess Demeter who rules over the growth and fertility of crops as well as Gaia or Mother Earth.
4. Ar-Pharazôn the Golden
Given the aurum displayed in this poster, it’s a safe bet that this character is the last king of Númenor, Ar-Pharazôn the Golden, or one of his predecessors. Ar-Pharazôn was the most powerful Númenorean king, but he is infamous in LOTR lore for using him disastrously, especially since his wish for eternal life led to the destruction of his kingdom and a change of the world. It’s always fun to see powerful people crave madness and we look forward to this character in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
We bet that the character this poster teases is Narvi, dwarf-lord of Khazad-dûm (Moria) in the middle of the second age. The huge hammer and gold-flecked hands, coupled with the fact that we can spot the tool’s dwarven runes, indicate that it’s most likely Narvi. His role is notable in the LOTR universe for having partly made the gates of Durin and the west gate of Moria. We can also see a red beard which strongly suggests that this character is a dwarf.
